CAEN NAMED A CREATIVE CITY BY UNESCO
For the festivities that will take place in 2025, Caen is turning its attention in particular to science and art, which have been hallmarks of the region for decades. The digital arts act as a link between these two domains.
Four cities were awarded the "digital arts" accreditation in 2023: Caen (France), Casablanca (Morocco), Novi Sad (Serbia) and Oulu (Finland).
DIGITAL ARTS IN THE MILLENNIUM
In 2025, Caen will be putting the arts and science at the heart of its programming:
- The Millennium will enable the implementation of emblematic projects at the crossroads of culture and science, and will present exceptional themed exhibitions in Caen's museums, and will schedule national- and international-level conferences.
- The Blood and Brain Institute @Caen Normandie/Cyceron /the GREYC/ PhIND /NIMH/la Psydé and the Musée des Beaux-arts de Caen will be launching a study in 2025 to verify in situ that visiting the museum contributes to cerebral well-being.
- ]Interstice[, a meeting of unclassifiable artists, (organised by Station Mir, Manœuvre and Oblique/s) is one of the highlights of Caen's cultural life. Acknowledged by professionals, this event, entirely devoted to the digital arts, will see its format greatly expanded in 2025.
